Borders Recording Excursions 2010

Inaugural Joint Excursion of Borders and Lothians recorders to Coldingham Bay, Berwickshire

27th June 2010, 10.30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Organiser: David Long

Meet at the Coldingham Bay car park at 10.30 a.m. To reach Coldingham Bay, take the A1107 or the A1 plus B6438 to Coldingham. At the far end of the village, turn off the B6438 to the right and proceed down to the car park just before the beach (NT915665).

Coldingham Bay is a sandy bay backed by dunes and rough grassland and a wooded gully. The rocky foreshore around the bay and further south is a SSSI, and includes rock pools which support a wide range of marine life. From Coldingham Bay, the Berwickshire Coastal path leads a short distance along the coast to Linkim, where there are further wooded gullies. The variety of sites and habitats should provide something for everyone. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear suitable footwear.

Various early buses run from Edinburgh to Musselburgh on Sunday mornings. There is a bus at 8.30 a.m. from Musselburgh arriving at Dunbar at 9.27 a.m., from where it may be possible to arrange a lift. If you would like a lift, please contact us (details below).
